He knew many things of this border that separated the Clan of fast running cats and the Clan of swimmers. The clearing that was shared by both WindClan and RiverClan and served as the border was part of his history. His father had crossed it to find his mother and sire him. His father's, and in turn his own, kin commonly marked the border here. He himself had crossed it as an apprentice, only to be chased out by Whisperstar.
Flightwind's white pelt shown in the morning light. His lean frame, part of his WindClan lineage, was his only trait of his father's. The coloring, and his blue eyes, were his mother's. He gazed over the border, to the land where he had once been offered to home. He had refused, adamant that his loyalty was to RiverClan.
"And it is," he hissed at the enemy Clan's territory. "It always had been, and always will be!"

Almondpaw looked up at her mentor from where she had been sniffing a beetle. "What?" She asked.

Flightwind turned around, blinking apologetically. His dark eyes became lighter, trying to hide his conflicts. "Sorry about that Almondpaw. So, what kind of training sound decent today?"

Flightwind almost laughed. "No, not a task for a warrior or all. We could see if we could catch some fish...or maybe try some battle practice."

(So cute!)
Flightwind took pity on her. "On our way back to camp," he told her, "I suppose it would cheer them up to see such a thing. Warriors support all the Clan's members." Shaking himself, he told her, "Now, let's go to the river."

Almondpaw stayed quickly behind, her paws scraping at the dirt to get faster. Her eyes shone bright as the river soon appeared.

His large stride stopped when Flightwind reached the river's edge. The water was plentiful, he realized with joy. He himself was a poor fisher, he hated to admit. Nodding to Almondpaw, he said, "Give it a try."

"Good scare tactic," Flightwind murmured to himself. Jumping in, he splashed the apprentice himself, half in rebuke and half in play.

Shaking his head as if to say, why not? Flightwind dipped his tail into the water and flicked it at the she-cat as water doused his face, making his whiskers sag.
