A long gray tom came out of his den, and seeing that the rain had dissipated to a slight sprinkle, he decided to continue with his plans.
Limping forward towards the JaggedRock, he bunched his muscles and leaped on to the giant rock. Requiemstar licked a paw and drew it over his face, pausing only for a moment as he surveyed the camp. His heart swelled with pride as he remembered that he was leader of this precious clan. All cats looked up to him -well, most of them.
Staring blankly into space for awhile, the tom gave a little start when he realized it would soon be dark. Giving his face one final swipe with his paw, he began the meeting. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own pray gather beneath the JaggedRock for a clan meeting!" Requiemstar's voice rang out confidently. Then he waited patiently for his clan members to gather, watching all of them as they came out from their dens.

Are you around me? The rain had begun again. It had ended a while later, but was now sprinkling gracefully to the already damp earth. The odd thing was, it was sunny while raining. The clouds weren't covering the sun anymore. The heat, however, was lowering instead of rising. A tabby muzzle raised towards Requiemstar. He had called a meeting. Dustpaw's whiskers quivered with excitement. It had to be his mentor receiving ceremony; it had been held off for a few days. He had become an apprentice with no mentor, and it was embarresing. He hoped he would get a good mentor. He sat in front of Jaggedrock, watching his leader like a fox waiting to catch it's prey.
Because I can't see you. (Short, short, short.)

Spark-kit sat next to Dustpaw normally, not her hip. She started licking her underbelly to clean it. She washed her pelt gently, then once all traces of dirt was gone, she purred in success, she smiled up to Dustpaw, her eyes sparkled with excitement for him.

Requiemstar saw that nearly everyone was there already. Darlingpaw would be excused since she needed rest. He straightened as much as he could, and gazed down at the cats below. "Dustpaw, please step forward." He watched as Spark-kit cleaned herself, then looked up at Dustpaw. His eyes twinkled with a knowing look, and a bout of sadness came over him as he remembered that was what Silverfrost had done for his ceremony. Shaking his head to clear the bad memories away, he continued with the proceedings. "Dustpaw, you have not had a proper apprentice ceremony, since the clan is short of mentors right now. Therefore we shall begin anew." Requiemstar paused. Beckoning the young apprentice closer to the rock, he began. "Dustkit, is it your wish to train in the ways of the noble warriors, in the hopes that someday you will become one?" the wise leader looked down form the rock, his gazed fixed on Dustpaw.

Spark-kit's smile widened as she saw her, some-what-friend was getting what he deserved, a mentor. She called to him gently. "Good luck, Dustpaw!"

Dustpaw bounded closer to the rock, as if he really was Dustkit. "Yes." He mewed, nodding as his tail twitched. He had seen his leader hesitate when looking at him, though. What was in his eyes when he had done so...? But the apprentice couldn't worry about that now. The tom was finally getting a mentor! He didn't have anything else to worry about. His paws ached to jump up and yowl with happiness, but he had to act mature. He sat straight and looked at the leader with pride. His tail twitched again. I wonder if Spark-kit is happy for me, He thought, then blinked. Why did he care what Spark-kit thought? That annoying little fur-ball had gotten to his head. Then he heard her encouraging words; "Good luck, Dustpaw!" Dustpaw raised his head higher at her voice.

OutOfControl:// Ahh, encouraging! That was the word I was trying to think of! Sorry I am kinda slow in the mornings. BackInConfinement:// Spark-kit smiled when she saw Dustpaw raise up to her voice. (Wow alot of smiling xD) She shook her pelt to relax her. This was all to much! To much excitement! She could barely hold it all in. She shook excitedly.

Requiemstar gave the young tom a reassuring smile as he stepped closer. "Then from this day forward, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Dustpaw." His blue eyes shone as he paused for a few moments. Now he would introduce Dustpaw's mentor! Curling his tail around his paws, he smiled. "And here comes the part you've hoped for. A mentor." the leader gazed at the young apprentice, hoping he would be excited by this next part. "Dustpaw, I, Requiemstar shall be your new mentor. I will teach you patience and wisdom, and pass on all I know to you, so that one day you shall be an even better warrior than I," he finished. Leaping down from the JaggedRock to touch noses with his apprentice, Requiemstar wondered if he'd done the right thing. Does he even really want me as a mentor? Or is he worried I'll be too strict on him?...

Spark-kit's smile turned to a frown. "Requiemstar....?" She mewed. "THATS NOT FAIR!" She yowled and stomped her feet impatiently. (Haha, just a spoiled kit.)

The apprentice almost jumped out of his pelt when he heard who would be his mentor. The sun shimmered down on his pelt, heating it as the rain began to end. His teal orbs glistened proudly as he touched his mentor's nose with his own. "Thank you, Requiemstar." He mewed, once again trying not to yowl happily. His eyes averted to Spark-kit, seeing what she thought. A grin was on his maw as she acted spoiled. He tried not to laugh out loud, and decided to put his annoying smirk on. |

Spark-kit glared at Dustpaw then dashed out of the camp. "Fine! If he is gonna be like that then I am leaving!" She mewed to herself. But what If i don't leave? She mewed in thought. "No, no, I am leaving." She mewed to herself again.

Requiemstar smiled at Spark-kit's attitude. "Now now dear one," he admonished her, "When you are old enough to be an apprentice we'll get someone great to mentor you. Maybe... the deputy?" Hoping that would be enough of a reply for Spark-kit to calm down, he turned his gaze back to his apprentice. "So Dustpaw, I believe our first lesson should be to learn the territory. However, there has been fox scent around the borders lately, so we'll go there later when it's safe." He paused thoughtfully, his eyes betraying a glimmer of amusement. "I suppose that means you can choose between hunting and training. Which would you like to learn toda-?" Requiemstar broke off as he saw Spark-kit running out of camp. "Dustpaw, let's go!" he shouted, trying to catch up with the she-kit as fast as he could. Unfortunately that wasn't very fast because of his one leg that was shorter than the rest, so he hobbled/stumbled out of camp.

Spark-kit flew over the ground and finally reached the river, where she sat on the middle stone a nd bawled her little head off.

Dustpaw's eyes widened as Spark-kit bounded out of camp. He stood still for a moment, his mind whirling, before he saw Requiemstar running after her. The tabby apprentice shot forward, following her scent. He didn't bother waiting for his mentor; he could catch up. Dustpaw had to stop Spark-kit from going over the river; she could drown. As he followed her scent through the dense area, he finally reached the river. He spotted the kit on one of the middle stepping stones. There was something wrong with her, though. Was she... was she crying? Couldn't be. Spark-kit was strong enough to not cry."Spark-kit?" He asked, standing still, "Are you okay?"

Requiemstar had limped until he was behind some shrubbery that shielded him from the two cats view. Look at the way Dustpaw's gazing at Spark-kit.. This is something they need to work out on their own. The blue eyed tom quietly hobbled back to camp.
