[white] The medicine cat's den was lit with soft morning light, the small stream littered with glistening sunlight. Breezefeather's small, lithe figure was sorting herbs in the back of the den, mumbling to herself. "Burdock root, just in case," she muttered through jaws filled with marigold. The smell wafted up to her nose, and she fought the urge to sneeze. "Juniper... Ah, marigold," she said, satisfied, as she dropped the marigold into a pile in the corner.
"Now where's the poppy... hmm... Ah, here," she mumbled. "No...That's not it. Huh. Do I not have poppy?" Puzzled, Breezefeather searched her stacks thoroughly. "No poppy," she confirmed dubiously. "I always have poppy seeds." But, she knew, defying it wasn't going to change it. Peeking her white head through the entrance to her den, she sighed irritably. "And I won't be able to find any in leaf-fall," she muttered bitterly. Then, as an afterthought: "I really need to stop talking to myself."
Walking slowly from her den, she noticed apprentices frolicking. "I need an apprentice," she said absent-mindly, shaking her head. "Then, whoever my apprentice would be, they could go and do my dirty work." Smiling softly, Breezefeather left the camp. Surely Silentnight would have some poppy. [/white]

Twigpaw brushed into the medicine cats den. "Hi, Breezefeather!" He mewed joyfully. He padded over to his mentor with a big smile on his face. "So what are we gonna do today?" He asked as he sat down near the marigold. The pretty yellow flower petals showed that the flower had been fully bloomed.

{Let's act like it was after she got back that he said that, lol}
Breezefeather smiled lightly, looking at her apprentice with easy fondness. "Today..." she echoed, thinking. She had already gone to get the poppy, so there was little else her apprentice could do. Unless she could give him another quiz on the herbs and their uses. Then they could go find catmint - or try to, at least. Honestly, she hadn't thought about it. She was too busy sorting herbs to even remember she had an apprentice.
"Alright, today, I'm going to give you a short quiz on the herbs and their uses," she said with conviction. "Then, we'll try to find catmint - leaf-bare is a rough season for greencough and whitecough, and catmint is a good remedy." Laughing, she continued, "I just gave you an answer."

Twigpaw nodded then shook his fur, ready for anything.

"Okay, alright," Breezefeather said thoughtfully. "Okay. What are the uses for... burdock root? Make it good, Twigpaw." She smiled gamely, settling on her haunches. She was proud of her apprentice, adjusting well to the monotonous life of a medicine cat. Not many cats had the patience for it - especially apprentices - and for Twigpaw to want to be one, well, it was a grateful ordeal.
Just as well, Breezefeather knew Twigpaw was destined for the medicine cat path - she knew since the morning she awoke, a few days after the fire. She had stepped outside her den, hearing a crack, and looked down. There was a snapped twig on her paw. She had known, had it not been obvious before, that Twigpaw was StarClan's choice. Whether or not they came to him in his dreams, well, that was for him to know.

Twigpaw cleared his throught then closed his eyes proudly. "Burdock root is used to on rat bites!"

Breezefeather purred happily. "Very nice," she commented thoughtfully. "It can also be used on most infections." Standing back up, Breezefeather stretched, yawning. It was closer to dark now, and if she didn't go find catmint soon, she'd be unprepared - just in case sickness did come. But a medicine cat was always prepared for the worst.
"Alright, Twigpaw, I'll quiz you on the way to Star Stones - I'm telling you, if we don't get catmint, it could be you that gets sick," she purred jokingly, clearing a spot for catmint in her herb piles. Satisfied, she turned to her apprentice and said, "Well, let's go. We want to get out before sundown. While it's awfully easy to detect the scent of catmint, we still want to be able to see." With that, Breezefeather walked out of her den, looking back to check if Twigpaw was following.

Twigpaw nodded, taking it all in. he slowlt followed his mentor, his brown tabby fur bristling with excitemen,t making him look like a big fluff ball. He lashed his tail then haded through the RiverClan tunnel.
